FairTax

The FairTax Action Team educates the public about the need for Tax Reform and the benefits that the Fair Tax offers American citizens and our economy as a whole. The Rome TEA Party will be working hard in 2011 to educate all of Floyd County about the tremendous benefits of the Fair Tax. A series of articles will be appearing on a weekly basis in the Coosa Valley News and hopefully in the Rome News Tribune which will deal with one aspect of this proposed bill in each article. Additional ideas from the Rome TEA Party members about how to educate the citizens of Floyd County on this issue are welcome and encouraged!

Illegal Immigration

The Illegal Immigration Action Team seeks to seal our borders, eliminate the idea of Amnesty, and enforce existing immigration laws.
We previously identified our top 5 concerns regarding illegal immigration. They are:
   1) Secure the border
   2) Enforce existing immigration laws
   3) Financial strain on taxpayers in the form of costs for education, medical
               care, public assistance and law enforcement programs
   4) NO AMNESTY
   5) Support for Arizona
Our team plans for 2011 are to educate Romans about these issues and the tremendous burden taxpayers are incurring because of the increasing number of illegal immigrants in our area. We hope to work with our elected officials and encourage them to make these concerns a top priority for the Georgia Legislature.

Militant Islam

The Militant Islam Action Team acts as a watchdog to prevent ‘creeping Islamitization’, Dawa, and Jihad in America. The team exchanges information electronically very frequently on Islam to help each member become as informed as possible on the issue. Members have spoken on Tea Party Talk about the subject and at least one letter to the editor of the Rome News Tribune from a team member has been published. We plan to continue these efforts in 2011.

Elected Officials Accountability

The Elected Officials Accountability Committee is tasked with keeping tabs on those elected to serve us. We inform Tea Party members of their elected officials activities, motives, positions and votes on the issues that effect all our lives. It is so important to support our office holders when they are on the right track and to provide guidance when they go astray. There will be more information about this later and we invite all of you to help us "keep 'em honest".

Repeal Healthcare

The Healthcare Repeal Action Team stays in touch with elected officials to demand the repeal of Obamacare.
